Wanaka Airport – WKA Wanaka
Situated on a plateau above the village of Lugatte in Otago, New Zealand, Wanaka Airportis a public airport that serves the Wanaka township. It currently doesn’t have any scheduled commercial flights but it serves as a base for charter flights. Wanaka Airportwas formerly a private airstrip owned by Tim Wallis and became the primary commercial airport for Wanaka in 1985, replacing Mt. Iron Aerodome. An airshow called “Warbirds over Wanaka” is held in the airport biannually since 1988.

Wanaka Airport (WKA) is composed of a single asphalt runway and a terminal building. Several general aviation aircraft are also based in the airport. National Transport and Toy Museum and Warbirds and Wheels Museum are some of the attractions that can be found in the airport. Arrowtownis just a few miles away from WKA Wanakaand is located on the banks of the Arrow River. Tourists can enjoy a lot of activities in the place like skiing at Coronet Peak.
