Penghu Airport - MZG

In the heart of Penghu County, in Makung, Taiwan lies Penghu Airport, formerly known as Magong Airport. It is the fifth-busiest airport in Taiwan, with over 2.3 million passengers passing through annually. It was established in 1957 as the Magong Air Station for the purposes of transporting government military personnel and cargo. It was not until 1966 when the airport opened itself up to private airline operations. In 1992, it was re-established as a Class B air station.

Best Time to Visit

MZG-Penghu Airport’s new three-storey terminal building boasts of 44,048 square meter space and is able to accommodate as much as 4.4 million passengers annually. It boasts of 32 check-in counters on its first floor, all equipped with its own baggage transport system. The second floor houses the waiting room and the mainframe where passengers can pass through the empty bridge to board their flights. It also has a wind and rain corridor so passengers can board flights conveniently without having to worry about the weather. Visit the nearby Qimei from the airport.

There are several highly rated hotels and accommodations within a couple of kilometer's radius from the Penghu Airport. Travelers can relax at the Araucaria Residence or the Le Wu Casa, all within 1.3 kilometers from the airport. You can also book a stay at the Yentai Hotel or the nearby Foungjia Hotel. These Huxi hotels offer access to the nearest tourist sights, as well as comfortable accommodations and free wifi.
