Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport - LIR Liberia   

The sprawling Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport is located within the city of Liberia, Costa Rica. It has the airport code LIR, which refers to the airport’s alternate name, Liberia International Airport. It is one of Costa Rica’s four international airports, and serves the major tourism hub of the western region. The LIR Liberia airport was named after a former Costa Rican president. The airport is located within 11 km from the city center, and was first inaugurated in 1995.

Best Time to Visit

The Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport features a passenger check-in area in the main building interior, which features open spaces and lush vegetation. It also has a firefighter station, landing lights, and its own radio station. It has a parallel taxi way and a 2,750-meter asphalt runway. In 2012, a new 23,000 square meter terminal building opened to cater the increasing number of tourists.

A few of the best cities to visit upon arrival at the LIR Liberia Airport are Tamarindo and Villarreal.
