Kagoshima Airport – KOJ
Internationally recognized by its IATA location identifier of KOJ, Kagoshima Airport is a public-use airport constructed in the city of Kirishima in the prefecture of Kagoshima. The airfield handles the passenger traffic of the city of Kagoshima, Japan, which is almost 30 kilometers from the aerodrome. Kagoshima Airport is known as the second most active airfield on the island of Kyushu, following Fukuoka Airport. This international airport is currently operated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, while its passenger terminal is managed by the Kagoshima Airport Building Co., Ltd.

The Kagoshima Airport (KOJ) was officially opened to commercial flights in 1972. It replaced the Imperial Japanese Navy airport located in the Kamoike area, which is now the home of the government offices of the Kagoshima Prefecture. Ten years after the airport opened, an international terminal was introduced to the airfield, followed by a cargo terminal five years later. Today, the airport is served by 18 airlines, connecting the city to various destinations in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Kagoshima Airport also serves as the hub for New Japan Aviation and Japan Air Commuter. From the airport, feel free to explore the neighboring towns of Koike, Suzuyama, and Arimura.
