Niagara Falls International Airport – IAG Airport
Niagara Falls International Airport prides itself as being a great alternative to many of the congested international airports in North America. Its location and facilities allow it to offer excellent services to its passengers. IAG is located in Niagara County, New York. The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority owns and operates IAG airport.
Best Time to Visit
IAG Airport first began in 1928 when it opened as a municipal airport. IAG opened with four runways featuring a crushed-stone surface. The United State Army Air Forces later on used the airport during World War II. Civilian operations would later on return in 1946 but military use would still remain until present day. Allegiant Air and Spirit Airlines provide scheduled services with destinations to Orlando/Sanford, Savannah, St. Petersburg, and Fort Lauderdale. As of 2017, the airport had 29,816 operations and 282,000 passengers. Residents from Pelham, Niagara Falls, Youngstown and nearby towns and cities use the IAG to avail of air travel services.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Niagara is known for its beautiful waterfront and there are many hotels that are able to offer both waterfront views as well as the convenience of being near the airport. Four Points by Sheraton Niagara Falls offers spectacular views of the Niagara River and is less than 3 miles from the Niagara Falls International Airport. The Best Western Summit Inn may not have waterfront views, but it does offer the convenience of being located less than a mile from the airport. And only a half-mile away from the international airport is the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Niagara Falls.
Located nearby the airport is the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, ranked as the third busiest airport in the state of New York.
