Eilat Airport - ETH
Eilat Airport is a former public airport operated by the Israel Airports Authority serving the area of Eliat, Israel. The airport originally focused on areas such as Israir and Arkia. Named after the founder of the Arkia Airlines, the airport originally handled domestic flights due to the lack of a bigger runway that can accommodate bigger aircrafts used for international flights. The airport was replaced by the Ramon Airport and ceased operation last March 2019.

Since the early 1990s, authorities were already thinking of relocating the Eilat Airport out of the city boundaries. Due to the fact that is also dividing two parts of the region, the residential and the commercial and tourist sides, opting to move operations to Ramon Airport was indeed the choice taken by the authorities. International traffic was welcomed in the airport, but decreased in the late 2000, thus diverting most of the international traffic to Ovda Airport instead. The lack of a ramp space was one of the major challenges the airport had to face.
