Ferenc Liszt International Airport – BUD Budapest, Hungary
Of the four commercial airports in the country, the Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) is considered the largest and the busiest. Serving Budapest, Hungary and its environs, the airport is 10 miles away from the city center. In 2011, the airport got its current name in honor of the famous Hungarian composer on the occasion of his 200th birthday. With over 10 million passengers passing through annually, it is a major gateway to and from many international destinations that the airport serves either directly or through connections.
Best Time to Visit
Since the closure of Terminal 1 in 2012, Ferenc Liszt Airport utilizes Terminal 2 subdivided into 2A and 2B. Flights to/fromSchengen countries are directed toward 2A while 2B is used for all other non-Schengen destinations. Both 2A and 2B are linkedup to SkyCourt, a modern central area for passengers complete with retail and food and beverage outlets. The airport operates to and from over 100 destinations on a daily basis and there are two runways in operation. The airport is only 16 kilometers away from the city center and is in close proximity to surrounding areas like the cities of Erd, Godollo and Gyomro.
