Austin History Center in Austin, Texas, founded in 1955, features Austin Public Library’s local history collection and the city’s historical archive. These include thousands of artifacts, documents, maps, and photos. The building housing it was inaugurated as Austin Public Library in 1933. It has been part of the National Register of Historic Places since 1993. 

There are several fun things to do in the area, such as visiting Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial. Created by Ralph Helmick in 1993 and installed a year later, it is a bronze sculpture of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Its shadow features Vaughan playing the guitar. Tourists should also visit Lake Pflugerville in Pflugerville. Completed in 2006, it is a reservoir designed to provide water to local residents. The surrounding area has fishing piers, and a trail suitable for biking and hiking. It also provides a beach area, kayak rentals, and picnic areas. Another interesting site to visit in the area is French Legation Museum. It was established in the early 19th century to represent the French government. Opened to the public in 1956, it was included in the National Register of Historic Places in 1969. One of the nearest hotels to the center is the Omni Austin Hotel Downtown, located 0.34 miles away.
