Asosa Airport – ASO Asosa

Asosa Airport (ASO) serves the city of Asosa, Ethiopia, which also happens to be the capital of the western region of Benishangul-Gumuz. This airport was named after the city and is also known as Assossa. It is situated 5.5 km. south of Asosa. This public airport consists of one runway and is run by the Ethiopian Airports Enterprise.

In 2010, the number of airports in the country rose after Asosa Airport was built. The Ethiopian Airport Enterprise spent an estimate of $7million to construct the airport, which took three years. 

The airport’s $3million terminal has the capacity of serving 176 passengers. As part of the government’s effort to improve the general aviation in the country, other airports were also developed during this time including Addis Ababa Bole, Mekele, Bahir Dar, and DireDawa, which are all international airports.
