The Bangor Museum and Center for History is located at Union Street in the town of Bangor, Maine. It sits close to the Greek Revival-style Thomas A. Hill House, one of the historical landmarks of the city. Telling the story of Bangor’s history, the museum houses several interesting exhibits and artifacts and hosts some exciting programs headed by the Bangor Historical Society.

Apart from the Bangor Museum and Center for History, Bangor also boasts of several other fun attractions, one of which is the Bangor Opera House. It sits within a three-minute walk from the museum and houses the prestigious Penobscot Theatre Company. During the 1860s, Bangor features roughly ten opera houses, but today, only the Bangor Opera House remains. It was initially constructed in 1889 but was destroyed in a fire not long after. Thankfully, it was eventually rebuilt in 1920, this time featuring an Egyptian-art deco style. Meanwhile, the Cole Land Transportation Museum is a five-minute drive from the opera house. It is home to the former Maine Central Railroad Company, along with several land vehicles used in Maine during the early days.
