Abeokuta, Nigeria: A City Known for its Ancient Heritage
Home to Olumo Rock, Abeokuta is located on the east side of the river Ogun, southwest of Nigeria. The first recorded settlers of the city date back to 1830 when the place was used as a refuge from slave hunters. Later, Abeokuta was an important route for trading palm oil.
